Stottie Stands

The stottie is a round flat bread that has a deep heritage in the Northeast, especially in working class communities. Big river Bakery is located in the centre of Newcastle and claims to be the ‘home of the stottie’. Community is also very important to the bakery and it is an important value of the city. With its football and many organisations helping to engage people with less opportunities through cafes and making workshops. These stottie stands are inspired by both the shape of the stottie, an iconic North East cuisine. But they also take inspiration from the idea of community and how this often involves sharing with others in the context of food. Therefore the stottie stand can be a centrepiece to any occasion where you are sharing food and conversation with others.
